1. With the hand nearest to the kayak, grasp the middle of the front cockpit rim.
2. Place your nearest foot in the front of the cock-pit, along the imaginary centreline. It’s important to keep your weight in the middle of the boat, as otherwise you’ll fall in the water.
3. Put your other hand on the landing stage and use it to help you maintain your balance.
4. Now place your other foot behind the first one, also along the centreline.
5. Still holding onto the rim and the landing stage, sit down on the seat.
6. Now take the paddle and make sure that it’s turned the right way.
