5.Keep kicking until your lower body is close to the surface of the water. Then pull yourself across the cockpit.
6. Recover your balance. Breathe. If your pulse is racing, take a minute to calm down. Move your hands so one hand has a good grip in front and the other behind.
7. Then twist your body around so your buttocks land in the seat. This transition from lying to sitting is where people often fall back into the water again, so it’s important to relax your body and focus your mind before you do it.
8. Take the paddle with both hands.
