TURNING, EDGING & FIGURE-8 EXERCISE
Turn
1. The tiller sits in the middle of the footplate.
2. Push the tiller to the side you want to turn towards.
Edging
1. Shift your weight onto the buttock on the oppo-site side of the direction you want to turn.
2. Maintain the edging position – even when your paddle is on the opposite side.
3. During the manoeuvre, your body should form a letter C, which will help you maintain your balance.
Figure-8 exercise
1.In this exercise, you paddle around two kayaks in a figure eight to practice turning and edging.
